88 days ago the City Council said
"Yes, it's a climate emergency."
They promised action...

... But nothing has happened. No word about climate action, new green jobs, and no-excuses electricity.

On February 9, 2021, the council will meet via Zoom. Residents will speak out, demanding that especially right now the City must keep its promises.

Would you ask council members to take climate action? Just a few minutes will make a positive difference. Zoom info and suggested messaging are at the bottom of this page.

Let's make sure city officials don't forget their duty to lead.

Real Opportunities to Lead

California will ban the sale of new gas cars beginning in 2035. Novato can get ahead of that goal. We can convert city fleets to electric and ban new gas stations. We can send a message: Novato is ready for green business.

Green Novato is working toward clean prosperity with friends and neighbors, as well as local businesses and nonprofits. That means stopping investments in fossil fuel technology. Please consider signing the petition to oppose the Costco Mega Gas Station at Vintage Oaks. Alongside 350Marin we will stop that misguided investment in fossil fuel infrastructure.

The meeting starts at 6pm with reports from the city manager and city council members.  "Public comment," when anyone can speak to the council, will likely begin about 6:30.

If you're not sure what to say, just think about power outages that could have been avoided if Novato had invested in microgrids. Ask yourself if the transition to a green economy is happening in your neighborhood. Ask yourself if clean air and water matters, and whether the city council is taking action to ensure a brighter future for coming generations.

In particular, be sure to ask for the formation of a Climate Action Committee — a powerful way for us to help move Novato forward.

Green Novato is a nonpartisan movement committed to green change in Novato and throughout Marin County. We're working for electricity self-reliance and a carbon-zero city by 2030.
